Nico's Protest Music

I just learned (from Wikipedia) that Nico might have been, likely was, a bit of a racist.

So.

Perhaps we can consider this a bit of beyond the grave restorative justice.

Nico instructs on eluding facial recognition software, and how to play Ain’t Gonna Let Nobody Turn Me Around.

Protest as safely as you can out there and amplify the voices of people of color.

Nico sings a protest song.

Amateur Night!

I’ve picked up my guitar again recently on a lark. Aaron and I had been joking about starting a band where I would be a Nico impersonator (Velvet Underground era). Sometimes these things get out of hand. But there’s something about the immediacy and visceral expression of music that fills in the gap that the sometimes excessively cerebral nature of visual art is lacking.

So, y’all get to experience the results.

As the late, great Neil Innes liked to say when he was doing his Bob Dylan impersonation, “I’ve suffered for my music; now it’s your turn.”
